Today's issue of "THE HINDU" had really inspired me. I came across this particular article about Baby Halder, the author of "A Life Less Ordinary". The book is about her own life story which describes the hurdles she had to face right from her childhood till her unhappy married life. I liked the focal point she stressed upon- Women are not weak. They are capable of leading an Independent life without discrimination. Baby has put forth an interesting question: "Why do men give up their seats in a bus for a woman? Isn't she strong enough to stand?" This may sound a simple one. But looking at it with a magnified lens, I too personally feel that these petty actions supposedly make a woman a victim of the so called "weaker sex". Do such men try to show off that they are magnanimous? I don't understand!!
There is another interesting set of men- the DASHERS!! Every time a girl passes by a crowded street (let's take Ranganathan street for instance), there are these set of males who wantedly pass in front and literally fall over the girl. I again don't understand what psychological pleasure is derived from these filthy acts!! Whenever I myself become a victim of it, I feel like giving a strong punch on his face!! How I wish such specimens were born in the Arab countries!!!
Note: I don't blame the entire gender. Its just some among the whole lot. So no offense!!
But in spite of all these, my country is said (only SAID) to respect Women!!!
