Stinking Femininity

Blog posts, online friends networking, scraps..... These have become the order of the day in the current scenario. Rapid developments in technology, thanks to the IT sector.. And oops, Increase in cyber crimes?? Blame that too on Informatics.
"Freedom Of speech". I would say that this one word has been realizing its full potential only in these days. People are given a wide platform to share their views boldly, be it in the form of a blog or starting a community in an online network. But how are we using these chances to express ourselves, which have been thrown in front of us, out of which so much could be said and done? Let me pose this simple question.. Are you in orkut? If yes, put up your hand. Well, I can see your hand going up (I've already put up my hand!!). How are we using that? We spend most of our lifetime there sending scraps. So, what is the actual meaning of this respectable word called Scrap? Its simply unwanted things that cannot be used for their original purpose, but which have some value for the material they are made of . Very Apt! Our orkut scraps are not worth a penny for us (all unwanted scraps), but could be turned into good stuff if we use them properly.
I recently attempted to search for a community for Women Welfare. So there I go..
I type this word "Women" in the search box for communities..
and here are my results..
  • Women with big breasts
  • Indian women - Milky breasts
  • Sexy Indian Women (That in turn branches out as per regional classifications!)
  • Choose _____ city women for safer sex
  • Pregnant women wanting sex
the list goes on..... with pictures justifying the title of their communities.

(Any prestigious person with some respect for his/her culture will definitely feel like throwing stones at the owners and members of such communities. But the irony is that most of them are women themselves.)

Now, let me tell you what is happening inside such communities. The first post which shook me for a second was a woman advertising on the community, calling for interested men to have safe sex with her. She claims herself to be safe as she is married (Probably, thats gives her an extra credit!!) Wow, may be this is the concept of an invitation to offer which I had studied in books.
One thing which I don't understand is that how would a woman happily degrade herself? Aren't we really ashamed of whatever is being projected about our country? Where's our culture going? Of course, I don't deny the fact that students should be educated about sex. But why give over dosage? Huh, start talking about all this and the next minute, you'll be branded by the teens as an old Victorian and a philosopher not knowing to enjoy life.
First, let us understand the source of real contentment. For a woman, it is surely not in showing her 'Access Denied Areas' and for a man, its not the visualizations of such crap. Everything needs a system. The system of culture. Well, nothing could stop the growth of Technology. But we as 'Human Beings' and 'Sensible Creatures', could exploit it in the right way, cant we? My sincere request is, the next time you come across such a community, and if you see a woman demeaning the respectability of other Indian Women through her Obscene Offers, don't delay. Blast her through your scraps. Unparliamentary words would be of much use in this regard. And if the reader of my blog happens to be one of the members of such communities, I'm Sorry, you don't belong to my target audience.

So how do we change our slogans for Safety of women? "Women, stop acting against women!"

Project Feasible?

Every Chennai-ite is proud of the fact that river Cooum is one of the valuable traces in its history. Who can ever forget this beautiful river spreading its fragrance throughout Chennai!!The picture over here is not an oil painting by M.F. Husain or Ravi Varma. It is the 'Proposed' plan of the Cooum river in the future (No specific dates though!!).
How Strange! Man himself ravages his own environment and spends crores on it telling that he's trying to beautify his surrounding.
The irony is that it is this same mankind which came out with the proverb that "Prevention is better than cure"!!!

Sixty Years!!

"India has reached its 60th year of Independence", I was telling the flower vendor in my street corner during our usual chat. Her immediate reply was, "Oh yes, it comes every year no? My daughter gets a chocolate in her school every year for that." Is this how a citizen reacts?? Blame it on her ignorance and illiteracy. You see, India is independent!

Its a sad fact that Independence Day is almost becoming like someone else's Birthday. You celebrate it every year on that particular day, block the roads, spend in lakhs for the parades, give patriotic speeches and poosh!! Everything ends with that day!
Children in the corporation schools are excited about Independence Day - they get a chocolate!
Working people are excited about Independence Day - they get a HOLIDAY!
Television channels feel good about Independence Day - Their TRP increases with new programmes and new movies!! Again you see, India is Independent!

By the way, its been my long term doubt. Have you seen the list of programmes piled up in the TV channels to celebrate ID?? How on earth can you CELEBRATE Independence Day by watching the interview of a sexy heroine??? Then there would be a couple of cine programmes and finally a new movie. The intermissions would say "Celebrate ID with our _____ Product" (How Innovative!!)

For & Against:

Well, looking at the darker side of all this. I read in someone else's blog that there are 90,000 schools in India which still doesn't even have a blackboard. There are still child laborers working in the match factories of Sivakasi (not only sivakasi). There are lakhs and lakhs of families who still live on platforms..... The list would be never ending!

At the same time, look at the brighter side of things - The IT revolution, BPOs, Sensex hitting 15000 points, major acquisitions and mergers, Discotheques, pubs, Shivaji at a budget of Crores of rupees, fan clubs for Shreya, opening of Multinationals, SEZs, and lots and lots of money with the corporates and professionals and of course in the hands (pockets) of the Government!!

An IT professional gives a tip of Rs. 500 to the bearer of a hotel, for a bill of Rs. 2000!! Of course, its his/her hard earned money, but still, isn't that ridiculous when a common man without education still earns only Rs.15 a day in the villages? And finally blame inflation for all this!

I really don't think that I can call India an Independent Country till it is able to bridge the gap between these darker and brighter sides. But how is it going to do that? No one knows! I would openly admit that I can just grumble about all these and seriously cannot do anything about them. Ultimately, its the mindset of Everyone which has got to change.
The flower vendor should realize that Independence Day is not some Posh guy's birthday..
The IT chap needs to realize that his earnings could be put to more productive use..
And above all, the political parties gotta stop fighting and blaming each other (Which is of course a myth!).

Anyways, the Indian market is booming. There are splendid opportunities for us. Lets hope that our country too would soon rise as a fully developed and equipped one.
One second, I suddenly get a feeling as if I've been writing a patriotic composition for my English Exam!! I'm stopping here.. Let me Celebrate ID with chocolates, TV shows and a Holiday. Jai Hind!!

Design your Destiny

Today was the first session of a new programme for leadership skills, organized by my college. The person who handled the session had really inspired me. He shared many facts about life which were really practical. To point out particularly, the thought he put forward about our own destiny was excellent.
What do we guys do in general in case we face some set backs in life? We conveniently blame it on our fate and say that- my life has been destined to face failures!! But believe me friends, it is not so.

So now.. let me prove my above mentioned statement to you:

"Ladder of Life" - This ladder basically consists of 5 steps, each step leading to the other. They are your:
  • Thoughts
  • Actions
  • Habits
  • Character
  • Destiny
Here goes the explanation.......

When you focus your thoughts on something, you'll definitely put it into action.....
When you continuously perform those actions, they become your habit....
The consistency in your habits constitutes your whole character...
And yes, Finally your character decides your destiny...

(Read those lines again and try to relate them to your case.. You'll realize how true they are!!)

So, when you are the master of your thoughts, you are definitely (directly) the master of your destiny too. Hope you agree with me for sure.
And, hence the proof of my statement!!!

Well, don't think that I'm being philosophical. Life needs a bit of that too!!! So, start deciding your destiny!
